Accused Montco Wedding Gift Thief Charged In Similar Heist 2 Weeks Earlier

By Brad Segall

OAKS, Pa. (CBS) -- A Montgomery County man already accused of stealing gifts from a wedding earlier this month at the William Penn Inn in Lower Gwynedd (see related story) is now facing additional charges in connection with a theft at another wedding last month.

Prosecutors say that on June 22nd, at the RiverCrest Golf Club in Upper Providence, nearly $9,000 in wedding gifts were stolen from a reception area at the club.

Police say the man who swiped those gifts is Joseph Franzone Jr. of Bridgeport, Pa., who is already facing theft and related charges for the Lower Gwynedd incident on July 7th (see related story).

Police say witnesses to the theft at RiverCrest who were shown photo arrays containing Franzone's image identified him as the man who stole the gifts.

Franzone's girlfriend told police during the investigation that he recently lost his job and has a drug addiction and a gambling habit.

Authorities in Lancaster County, Pa. say there was a similar theft at a wedding there.  That case is still under investigation.
