South NJ Man Indicted In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash
BRIDGETON, N.J. (AP) — A man who allegedly was driving drunk when he struck and killed a man mowing the lawn outside a southern New Jersey business has been indicted on death by auto charges.
Thirty-one-year-old Ismael Lopez-Bautista of Bridgeton is also charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in the indictment handed up this week by a Cumberland County grand jury.
Authorities have said Lopez-Bautista was driving on South Delsea Drive when his vehicle veered off the road and hit a 26-year-old Vineland man. Lopez-Bautista then allegedly drove off, but was apprehended about a mile away.
Lopez-Bautista remains jailed, and it was not known Saturday if he has retained an attorney.
