Cops: K-9 Assists With $84K Drug Seizure In Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Delaware officials say over $84,000 in drugs were seized with the assistance of a K-9.

The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Jessup Street in Wilmington.

According to police, when members from the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice unit stopped a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Edrick Jones, K-9 officer Joseph O'Neil's partner, Tristen, indicated the presence of drugs.

Authorities say upon searching the vehicle, officers found 158.9 grams, or $84,000, of heroin, five grams of marijuana and $937.75 in suspected drug money.

Jones, a convicted drug offender, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and related charges and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $41,500.
