Chris Christie's Lead Remains Strong In Latest Governor Race Poll

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie continues strong support in a survey of New Jersey voters about the governor's race.

The Republican leads Democrat Barbara Buono 61 to 29 percent in Wednesday's Quinnipiac University survey.

Christie's support remains strong among Republicans, women, and independent voters. Buono receives support from 55 percent of the Democrats polled.

Christie gets a 66 percent favorability rating compared to 25 percent for Buono.

However, the governor might have difficulty changing the majority in the Legislature. Only 20 percent of voters surveyed say they are more likely to vote for a legislative candidate endorsed by Christie.

The survey of 1,068 New Jersey voters has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
