Ocean County Woman Arrested In Nevada After Disabled Daughter Found Dead

TOMS RIVER, NJ (CBS) – An Ocean County woman is behind bars after her disabled adult daughter was found dead inside her home.

On Thursday, May 30th, police were dispatched to 23 Fox Street in the Pine Ridge section of Manchester Township for reports of a strange odor coming from a residence.

Inside, officers found the decomposing body of a female, who was identified as Rebecca Wilson, 32, a disabled woman who was dependent on the care of her mother, Janet D. Wilson.

Police say the condition of the home initially hampered their investigation and that it was in such a poor state that it had to be condemned.

Officials were eventually able to track down Wilson's mother, Janet D. Wilson, in Reno, Nevada, where she was staying at the Vagabond Motel.

On June 20th, three local detectives – along with assistance from Reno City Police Detectives – located Janet Wilson at the motel and placed her under arrest.

A Social Security Administration review revealed that Janet Wilson had not reported her daughter dead and was still receiving her Disability and Social Security checks.

Janet Wilson also withdrew and transferred money from her daughter's account to her own as recently as June 17, 2013.

Janet Wilson is now charged with Aggravated Manslaughter, Desecrating Human Remains, and Neglect of a Disabled Adult.
