One Dead, Two Injured In Delaware House Fire

TOWNSEND, DE. (CBS) -- One person was killed and two others were injured, including a firefighter, after a fire ripped through a home in Townsend, Delaware.

The 3-alarm blaze broke out around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night at a home along the 700 block of Money Road.

Officials say two people were inside the residence at the time of the fire. A woman managed to escape, but the body of a second person was found by firefighters inside a bedroom.

The woman was taken to Christiana Hospital where she is listed in good condition after being treated for smoke inhalation.

A firefighter suffered knee injuries while battling the blaze when a wall collapsed. He was treated at the hospital and has since been released.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately released.

Fire officials say there were no smoke alarms inside the home which was destroyed by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
