The Rodin Museum: 'A Jewel Box'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a major renovation, the Rodin Museum on the Ben Franklin Parkway reopened last summer. It contains the largest collection of Rodin's works outside of Paris.

"One of the remarkable features of the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia is that it is a jewel box that is a combination of architecture, garden, and collections. The garden itself has a number of major sculptures installed throughout it and is free to the public at all times," says curator Jennifer Thompson.

The museum is also pay-what-you-wish. There is a suggested admission price, but you can pay as little or as much as you would like.

"The centerpiece of the museum -- both literally and figuratively -- is the 'Gates of Hell,' which is a monumental set of bronze doors that Rodin worked on for 37 years," Thompson adds.
