Like Nutter, DA Seth Williams Also Had Unpaid PGW Bill

By Mike Dunn

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On the heels of Mayor Nutter's admission that he faced a shutoff notice for not paying a PGW bill (see related story) comes word that Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams was also in that situation last year.

Court records uncovered by the web site philadelinquency.com show that Mayor Nutter was not alone among local elected officials in getting into hot water with the city-owned gas company.

Williams also was in arrears, and also, like Nutter, for an amount topping five hundred dollars -- in Williams' case, $578.

That prompted PGW to put a lien on his Overbrook home in April 2012.

Williams refused to speak to us, but he issued a statement saying, "Unfortunately, like thousands of Philadelphians during the winter, I got behind on my gas bill and I later made arrangements to catch up."

Nutter says his PGW problem stemmed from a single missed bill.
