Chesco Politician Resigns After Being Charged With Owning Child Porn

By Brad Segall

AVONDALE, Pa. (CBS) -- An elected politician in Chester County is free on bail after being charged with several hundred counts related to child pornography, which police say were found on his home computer.

Warren Reynolds resigned his position as a supervisor in New Garden Township following the police investigation.  Now, the 51-year-old Avondale man is facing hundreds of counts of child porn charges after police seized numerous items from his home including computers, external hard drives, floppy disks, and reels of film containing more than a thousand images.

Chester County DA Tom Hogan says Reynolds betrayed the trust of the people who elected him.

"Quite frankly, he let down not only his family but he let his entire community down, being someone who was going to collect child pornography when he was supposed to be leading this community," Hogan says.

And Hogan says a computer tech hired by the defendant's wife to service the machine found the images and reported it to police.

Reynolds is free after posting ten percent of his $1-million bail. He has already waived his preliminary hearing.
