'Vine' Mini-Video Sharing App Now Available For Android

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Twitter's "Vine" -- one of the most popular apps in the Apple app store, is now available for Android users.

Twitter has announced that Android users can now shoot and share the six-second videos that iPhone users have been creating and posting since January.

The Android app has many of the same features as the iPhone app.  But Android users will have something that iPhone users don't: a zoom tool.

"This is only the beginning -- we are have exciting plans for features that could exist only on Android," says Twitter's Android engineer, Sara Haider, in a blogpost.

Vine currently has 13 million registered users who post nearly a half-million of the mini-videos per day.
