Philadelphia Team, Suburban Recruiting Firm Team Up To Help Veterans Get Jobs

By Brad Segall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Montgomery County staffing solutions and recruiting firm is teaming up with the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football team in late June in an effort to get more veterans into the workforce.

Despite possessing the attributes that many employers are looking for, unemployment rates among returning veterans remain high.

The Judge Group and the Soul are hosting a speed career networking event at the Wells Fargo Center on June 22nd to give members of the military a chance to go face-to-face with employers.

"In the military you have jobs in logistics, you have jobs in health care, you have jobs in maintenance, you have jobs in facilities management and finance and all these other areas, you have the same jobs in corporate America," says Mike Ferraro, president of Judge VIP Careers.

The concern, he says, is their ability to translate those skills in an interview setting.

Interested vets should upload their resume to vetjobs@judge.com.

They'll hear from a recruiter who will help them polish it up and prepare them for that elevator speech in front of a prospective employer.
