Death Of Philadelphia Prayer-Healing Couple's Son Ruled A Homicide

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The death of a prayer-healing couple's 8-month-old son has been ruled a homicide by the Philadelphia Medical Examiner.

Herbert and Catherine Schaible's son Brandon died on April 18th (see related story).

The autopsy says Brandon died from dehydration and bacterial pneumonia due to a streptococcus infection.

Homicide charges have not been approved by the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.

The couple belongs to a religious group that does not believe in medicine, but rather in prayer for healing.

The Schiables were convicted of involuntary manslaughter after their two-year-old son died of pneumonia in 2009.

They were sentenced to 10 years probation.
