Delaware Police Investigate Attempted Abduction Of 9-Year-Old Girl

CLAYMONT, Del. (CBS) – Police in New Castle County are investigating the attempted abduction of a 9-year-old girl.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13th in the 200 block of Harbor Drive at the Harbor House Apartments.

According to police, an unknown male grabbed the 9-year-old from behind as she entered her apartment building after playing outside with a friend.

Investigators say the victim found an opportunity to escape and began yelling and screaming as she ran towards her apartment.

Police say the child's family members ran into the hallway when they heard her voice and reported the incident to police.

Authorities confirm that the suspect fled in an unknown direction and the child was not injured.

Two sketches of the suspect were released on Sunday. He has been described as a 30 to 40-year-old, black or Hispanic male between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall. He has a medium build and was wearing a black t-shirt with a white bird design on the front.
