1 Killed In Head-On Crash In Winslow Township

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – Police say one person was killed in a violent head-on crash in Camden County early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at about 7 a.m. on Williamstown Road near Lakedale Road in Winslow Township.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene where a 1991 Ford F150 pick-up truck and a 1995 Chevy minivan collided head-on.

According to police, the pick-up truck, operated by Anthony Passarella, crossed over the centerline for an unknown reason and collided with the van, operated by Michael Eppolite, trapping both drivers in their vehicles.

Police say Passarella was extricated from his truck by the Winslow Fire Department and airlifted to Cooper Trauma Center with multiple serious injuries.

Eppolite was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say traffic was diverted for four hours on Williamstown Road while police investigated.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
