University Of Delaware Student Stabbed During Fight

NEWARK, DE (CBS) -- Police say a University of Delaware student was stabbed multiple times during a fight in a Newark parking lot.

The incident happened around 1:20 Sunday morning along the unit block of East Delaware Avenue.

Officers arriving on scene learned that an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect in the parking lot, which led to a fight. During the fight, the victim was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen.

The victim, a 22-year-old University of Delaware student, was transported to Christiana Hospital by private vehicle. The victim underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect, who fled, is described as a white male, 18 to 22 years old, 5'11" to 6'00" tall, 185 to 190 pounds, wearing a white t-shirt, and a black hat.

Newark police continue to investigate.
