Camden Man Dead After Being Shot, Crashing Car Into Tree

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Police in Camden are investigating the death of a man found shot inside a vehicle that had smashed into a tree early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Henry and Royden Streets.

Police say 24-year-old Rayshine Burks was sitting in his car in front of Center Food Market when he was shot multiple times in the chest. Authorities say Burks drove away from the scene but crashed into a tree two blocks away. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately clear if Burks died as a result of the gunshot wounds, injuries he sustained in the crash or both.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor's Office Investigator Frank Simpson at (856) 225-8500 or Camden County Police Detective Ryan Bell at (856) 757-7420.
