Police Seek Society Hill Robber Who Shot Pursuing Victim

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help in tracking down two men wanted in a robbery and shooting in Society Hill last week.

Investigators have worked up a sketch of the suspected gunman, which Lt. Patrick Doherty describes as "25 to 30 years old, approximately 5' 8", about 200 pounds, dark brown complected, with a beard and a moustache."

Lt. Doherty says  that suspect and an accomplice robbed a 35-year-old man near 4th and Lombard Streets.  The man was shot while trying to chase after the robber.

"Our victim pursued the male that took his phone," Doherty says.  "He pursued him, followed him into Lawrence Court -- that's between 3rd and 4th Street, off of Pine.  At that time the robber fired one time, striking the victim."

Police have released a surveillance video showing the victim chasing the suspects down the street.

The robbery victim was shot in the shoulder and has since been released from the hospital.

This is the latest shooting in the same upscale Society Hill neighborhood since 2011.  In one of the earlier incidents the victim was killed.   Police say there is nothing at this point to connect the shootings.
