Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Colliding With Police Car In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Pa., (CBS) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a Springfield Township Police car Thursday night in Delaware County.

The accident happened at about 8:50 p.m. at Baltimore Pike and North Avenue in Springfield.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Baltimore Pike when it struck the driver side of the marked police car.

According to authorities, witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center with serious injuries.

It is unclear if the police officer was injured.
