Man Arrested In Carjacking Of 80-Year-Old Woman On Easter Sunday

BROOKLAWN, N.J., (CBS) – Police say a man was arrested Wednesday in the carjacking of an 80-year-old woman on Easter Sunday (see related story).

Authorities say 28-year-old Nicholas Silvestro of Gloucester City, was charged with Carjacking, Theft, Aggravated Assault, Robbery and Shoplifting.  He was ordered held on $250,000 bail.

The incident happened on March 31st at about 10:41 a.m. at the parking lot of the Metro Diner at Route 130 and Browning Road in Brooklawn.

Police say Silvestro allegedly pulled an 80-year-old woman from her vehicle and drove away with the car.

The woman was not seriously injured in the incident.

According to police, further investigation led to Silvestro also being charged with shoplifting from a Rite Aid next door to the diner on the same morning.  Authorities say fingerprints obtained from the scene led to officers identifying and arresting Silvestro.
