Man Killed In South Philadelphia House Fire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Fire Department officials say one person was killed in a house fire early Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 8:30 a.m. to a home in the 500 block of Watkins Street in South Philadelphia.

Firefighters were able to place the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. During a search of the home, firefighters found the body of an unidentified male.

Firefighters believe the victim tried to extinguish the fire on his own.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
