Philadelphia Officer Struck During Traffic Stop

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia traffic officer, who had stopped a car for a routine violation, was hit by the driver.

The incident occurred along northbound Roosevelt Boulevard near Large Street. The female officer was struck from behind around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning by a driver who was allegedly under the influence.

The officer was admitted to the Albert Einstein Medical Center with several non-life threatening injuries. She is listed in stable condition and resting comfortably.

Police say the striking driver has been tested and will be cited with driving while under the influence.
