Free Trees For Philadelphia Homeowners

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tree Philly is giving out free trees to homeowners in Philly but your time to claim your free tree is running out.

Tree Philly is a program that aims to connect Philadelphians with the resources they need to plant and care for their own trees.

Right now they are in the middle of their spring tree give away.

Any home owner in Philadelphia can claim up to two trees and community groups can claim up to ten trees.

Patrick Morgan with The Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation says you don't need a green thumb to take part in this event.  You can learn when you pick yours up.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is hosting a workshop for people that shows them how to plant and care for their tree.

You have until March 31st to sign up here for your free tree.  You can do this by calling Tree Philly or signing up online.

The trees will be distributed throughout April.  If you don't sign up now, there is another giveaway in October.
