Teen Facing Charges For Limerick Township Accident That Killed Mother Of Two

By Oren Liebermann

LIMERICK, Pa. (CBS) -- Charges have been filed against Justin Matthew Jackson, 18, of Limerick Township for hitting and killing Merinda Thompson, 40, with his car on the afternoon of March 4th.

Thompson was jogging near her Limerick home when she was hit and killed from behind on North Lewis Road (see previous story).

Police say the driver drifted across the road and into the shoulder before hitting Thompson. The car struck a utility pole before stopping.

Jackson now faces charges of vehicular homicide, drug use, and texting while driving. Police say they discovered a marijuana pipe and marijuana inside the car. Lab results showed Jackson had marijuana in his blood at the time of the accident, and a search of his phone revealed he'd been texting while driving.

Thompson was a mother of two young children who had recently taken up jogging.
