Teacher Burned During Science Experiment In Burlington County

MAPLE SHADE (CBS) - A high school teacher was injured during a science experiment in Burlington County on Friday morning.

School officials say a chemistry teacher at Maple Shade High School burned his hand while preparing for a class experiment.

He was working with sodium nitrate and glucose when the chemicals reacted and a fire started.

He burned his right hand, his hair was singed, and his clothing was burnt.

No students were in the classroom at the time of the incident.

He was taken to Kennedy University Hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.
