Study: Childhood Vaccines Are Safe

By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is a question that many parents of young children ask on a regular basis and it is a very reasonable one: just how safe are childhood vaccinations?

The Institute of Medicine, or IOM, has looked at safety and a panel of experts reviewed their findings. What they found is that there is not any link between childhood vaccines and autoimmune diseases, asthma, seizures or ADHD.

Nevertheless, if you have questions or concerns you should ask your doctor and also ask about how they protect against a wide variety of childhood illnesses.
