Samsung Launches Next Galaxy Smartphone

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Samsung took over Radio City Music Hall last night to show off the newest version of its best-selling Galaxy smartphone, the S IV. It's expected out at the end of next month.

The true star of this show at times took backstage to the live orchestra, actors, and skits -- even a tap-dancing routine.

"The screen is now a full five inches. This is a full HD, Super AMOLED screen," that Samsung says works even with gloves on.

A 13-megapixel rear camera joins a lower-resolution lens in the front.

"With the Galaxy S IV, Patrick can shoot video with both at the same time. He can capture the scene he's looking at while also inserting himself in it."

In photos, too -- though it's not seamless. The one taking the picture or video floats in a bubble next to the main subject.

"Oh, I want to talk about the Samsung Smartscroll and Smartpause," which stops a video while you're looking away. Tilting the S IV slightly will scroll a web page or email without you touching the screen.
