EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A man from Mexico wanted in New Jersey on murder and attempted murder warrants has been caught in West Texas after rappelling off a bridge.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on Wednesday announced the arrest of 27-year-old Marco Antonio Miranda-DeJesus.
Border Patrol agents in the downtown El Paso area on Monday night saw a man run north from the border with Mexico and rappel off a bridge. Agents caught the man following a brief foot chase.
Records show authorities in New Brunswick, N.J., sought Miranda-DeJesus on charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, gang criminality, conspiracy and unlawful possession of a weapon. Further details on the cases weren’t immediately available.
Miranda-DeJesus, who’s also been charged with illegal entry into the U.S., faces extradition to New Jersey.
