Off-Duty Philadelphia Cop Charged With DUI After Crash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –- An off-duty Philadelphia police officer has been charged with DUI after an accident Monday night.
The accident happened at about 9:20 p.m. in the 4900 block of Woodland Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.
According to authorities, 53-year-old officer Joseph Kelly was involved in an accident with another vehicle.
Authorities say Kelly was impaired at the scene of the accident and was transported to the Police Detention Unit for a breathalyzer and was found to be over the legal limit.
Kelly was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence and related offenses.
Kelly is a 23 year veteran of the force and was assigned to the Traffic Unit. He has been assigned to desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
