Car Crashes Into Roxborough Dunkin' Donuts

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Business was disrupted after a car crashed into a Dunkin' Donuts in Roxborough on Monday.

Police responded at about 3:30 p.m. to the Dunkin' Donuts located at the Ivyridge Shopping Center along the 7100 block of Ridge Avenue.

Police say an elderly female driver was behind the wheel when the car crashed into the front section of the store.

Investigators say the driver, identified as Barbara Makous of Roxborough, apparently panicked and hit the gas instead of the accelerator as she backed up over the curb and went through the window.

Customers inside were just a few away and narrowly avoided being run over.

"That's scary," said customer Dawn Colti. "The car must have been right here. It could've hit people just walking by."

No one was seriously injured.

By Monday night, workers had already boarded up the hole in the front end of the Dunkin' Donuts.

Police are calling the incident an accident. The driver has not been charged.
