City's Family-Friendly Attractions Expect Bump From 2015 World Meeting Of Families

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The World Meeting of Families sponsored by the Catholic Church is now on the calendar for September 2015. And the city's businesses are already looking forward.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation says it's nearly two years away, but the meeting will bring many visitors, and since the event is geared toward families, the city's family-friendly events will benefit.

"What we expect," says CEO and President Meryl Levitz, "is to have our many attractions that are geared toward families, and that means the historic area, the Parkway area, and many others, will benefit, because people will want to come and do the many family things that there are now to do here."

Levitz says this is a gift to the city and its many hotels, restaurants and other businesses which will also prosper, including printers and gift shops. She says if the Pope does come that will escalate the event to a whole new level.
