Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz Considering Run For Pa. Governor

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There is a decision coming soon from a long-time politician on seeking the top job in Pa.

Montgomery County Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz is getting closer to a decision on challenging Pennsylvania Republican Governor Tom Corbett for Governor. Her chief of staff and long time adviser Rachel Magnuson tells us "People across Pennsylvania are asking Allyson to run, and she is looking at it very, very seriously."

Why is this statement so important? Well, Magnuson speaks for Schwartz and her willingness to state this on the record is significant.

The Democrats are hungry with Governor Corbett fading in the polls, but Schwartz is not alone. Democratic state treasurer Rob McCord is very interested and some Democratic leaders are pushing hard for Montgomery County Commission Chair Josh Shapiro to run. But, unlike Schwartz, Shapiro has been very quiet about his future.
