Eagles Sign LB Chris McCoy, Release OT Demetress Bell

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Eagles signed DE/LB Chris McCoy to a three-year contract and released OT Demetress Bell, the team announced today.

McCoy (6-3, 261) is coming off of a two-year stint (2011-12) with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders, where he registered 29 tackles and five sacks. He was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL Draft and spent his rookie season on the practice squads of the Dolphins, Seahawks and Texans. He then signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2011 offseason, but was released prior to the season opener.

Bell was signed prior to the 2012 season as a replacement for the injured Jason Peters. Bell had a terrible season, rarely able to get on the field, playing behind King Dunlap among others.
