Goodwill Bridal Fundraiser Fast Approaching

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Goodwill's 5th Annual Valentine's Bridal Sale Fundraiser is fast approaching. The event draws brides from all over the area who want to get their hands on a top-quality gown, for a rock-bottom price with all the proceeds going to help those in need.

Goodwill PR Manager Juli Lundberg says last year about 150 people were waiting in line before they opened the doors and they are again expecting a big crowd.

How many gowns do they have? "About 325 to 350 bridal gowns. But, in addition to that we have a ton of bridesmaid gowns, mother of the bride gowns, flower girl dresses."

Now, with so many people and so much to look at, what is the best strategy for grabbing your dream gown?

"Most of the brides that come bring an entourage. They kind of know what they are looking for. The strategy is grab as many gowns as you are allowed to take to the dressing room and start trying them on so you can go to round two. But, I definitely find that it's usually the first dress that sells."

Dresses have been donated from Maggie Sottero, Nicole Miller and Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn and other styles on the racks include Demetrios, Alfred Angelo. The sale is Saturday, February 9th 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. but you are advised to get there early.
