Wind Knocks Over Flag Pole In Center City
By Jim Melwert
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The strong winds that blew down tree limbs all over the Delaware Valley, also took down a flag pole on top of a ten-story building in Center City, this morning.
Police on the scene at 7th and Chestnut Streets say the good news is the flag never fully detached from the roof. But, it did crush the ventilation system in the building. And, at one point the flag at the end of the pole was acting as a sail, pulling the pole in all sorts of directions.
For now, the pole is tied down as crews wait for a crane to upright it and the street is closed to pedestrian and car traffic.
