Woman Critically Injured After Being Struck By Car In Newark, Delaware

NEWARK, DE. (CBS) -- A pedestrian was seriously injured after she was struck by a car in Newark, Delaware on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. along Route 4 near Harmony Road.

Authorities say the victim, 77-year-old Catherine Engle, was attempting to cross the eastbound Route 4 lanes of traffic from the center median when she was struck by a car in the right lane.

Engle was transported to Christiana Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle involved did stop. He was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
