1 Dead, Multiple Injured After 3 Separate Overnight Crashes In Philadelphia


PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating three separate accidents that occurred overnight in Philadelphia.

According to police, one accident occurred between at least two cars on Westmoreland Street in the Port Richmond section of the city. There are no words on the cause of this accident. No injuries have been reported.

The second accident involving a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville occurred on Roosevelt Boulevard near N. 4th Street around 1:58 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say the vehicle was headed northbound on Roosevelt Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the male driver lost control at 5th street.

Investigators say the car hit a tree on the east side of the street. The driver and 24-year-old female passenger were taken to Einstein Medical Center. The female was pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m. The driver is being treated for his injuries.

Names of the victims have not yet been released.

Around 2:30 a.m. another accident occurred on Roosevelt Boulevard near Adams Avenue injuring two people. One victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center; the other was taken to Torresdale hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
