Fatal Crash Kills 2 Teens In Lehigh County

CATASAUQUA, Pa. (CBS) – Police say two people are dead after a driver lost control and crashed into a pole in Lehigh County.

According to police, the driver, 18-year-old Thomas R. Bono of Catasauqua, of a car traveling west on Race Street in Catasauqua lost control and hit a utility pole at Race and Railroad Streets around 6:15 a.m.

Police say there were four people in the car at the time of the incident.

The driver, Bono, and 18-year-old Jaenis N. Delo Santos, of Catasauqua, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Twenty-one-year-old Aaron Machado, of Allentown, and 17-year-old Paige Esterly, of Allentown, were rushed to St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem in an unknown condition.

Police say alcohol and speed may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation in ongoing.
