Driver Killed In Single-Car Crash In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a driver was killed after crashing into a tree in Northeast Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The deadly crash happened at about 5 a.m. along the Roosevelt Boulevard near Tomlinson Road.

According to investigators, the driver, a man in his 50's, was traveling southbound when he somehow lost control, went off the road and slammed into a tree.

Authorities say the unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other cars were involved in the crash. Accident investigators are looking into whether the wet roads at the time of the crash may have played a factor.

The deadly crash remains under investigation.
