Police In Chester County Searching For Thief And Pregnant Accomplice

EAST WHITELAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Police on the Main Line are warning shoppers to be extra careful with their purses, handbags and wallets after two thieves have struck at least three times in recent weeks.
Detectives say the two female suspects, one pregnant, work quickly stealing purses, handbags and credit cards in aisles and restaurants filled with busy holiday shoppers.
In the most recent theft, Detective Tricia Logic of the East Whiteland Township Police Department, says the pair entered a Wegman's Market, spotting and stealing a purse in less than three minutes. Moments later, she says, they were busy running up a $5,000 bill, filling shopping carts, in a Target store across the parking lot.
Logic says the pair works quickly to steal as much as they can before their victim cancels their cards.
Detectives Scott Pezick says the pair has struck twice in his township in and near the Exton Square Mall. Pezick says the two suspects then used the stolen cards to buy hundreds of goods at Coles and Macys.
Investigators hope anyone who recognizes the two suspects will contact them. They are also cautioning shoppers to be extra careful during the busy holiday shopping season.
