CBS Philadelphia Wraps Up "Operation Brotherly Love" Month-Long Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort With Tailgating Event

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The CBS Local Media stations in Philadelphia – CBS 3, The CW Philly, KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, SportsRadio 94 WIP, SportsRadio 610 WIP, Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, CBSPhilly.com and CBS Outdoor – team up to support the local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts with the American Red Cross through Operation Brotherly Love. Sports Director Beasley Reece will be positioned along Tailgate Row at the Wells Fargo Center prior to the start of the Philadelphia Eagles game against the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday, November 26th at 8:30 p.m. Diehard sports fans enjoying pre-game festivities in the general vicinity of the area and surrounding parking lots are encouraged to stop by the CBS Philly tent to make a contribution to the American Red Cross where our stations will be collecting donations starting at 4:00 p.m.

CBS Corporation designated the entire month of November as Thanksgiving to support the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts of the American Red Cross, with whom CBS has a long partnership in times of crisis. On November 2nd, volunteers and on-air personalities from the stations, the American Red Cross and Wawa staffed a 12-hour-plus phone bank at the top of every hour and in news segments on CBS 3 and The CW Philly to take pledges for the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Response Fund. On November 9th, Meteorologist Carol Erickson, along with CBS 3's Mobile Weather Lab, was situated at Wawa's Lakewood, NJ store to provide a "power station" to help charge people's phones and electronic devices in one of the worst hit areas and to help promote an in-store collection which allowed customers to contribute to the disaster relief by adding $1, $3, or $5 to their purchase at checkout under the Operation Brotherly Love umbrella.

CBS 3 and its sister stations created Operation Brotherly Love in 2001 as a way to mobilize the Delaware Valley's response to the 9/11 disaster. Under that same banner, the stations later raised $300,000 for Tsunami victims and more than a $1 million plus for Katrina victims in 2005 and nearly $1 million for Haitian Earthquake victims in 2010.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation. KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, SportsRadio 94 WIP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and Talk Radio 1210 WPHT are CBS RADIO stations. CBS Outdoor is a division of the CBS Corporation, and is one of the leading outdoor media companies in the world.
