Swiped Statue Back At Easton High School Before Big Game

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Red Rover, Red Rover, the statue got sent back over!

A bulldog statue taken from in front of a Pennsylvania high school is back home a few days before the school's big Thanksgiving football game against its cross-border rival from New Jersey.

The bulldog statue beloved by the Easton Red Rovers disappeared from its home over the weekend. Students from Phillipsburg High School, just across the Delaware River, claimed responsibility.

Palmer Township police say there's about $1,000 in damage to the statue and pedestal. The students tell The Express-Times of Easton the statue was missing a paw before it was taken.

Police say it'll be Easton school officials' decision to press charges.

The statue is being kept in a secure location until after the game. Thursday's matchup will be the 106th meeting between the teams.
