Suspect Sought In Attempted Luring Of Girl In Northeast Philadelphia

By Molly Daly and Walt Hunter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a report that a man tried to lure a teenage girl into his car Monday morning in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened about 8 a.m. on Summerdale Avenue, near Benner Street. Police say the man pulled up in a blue Toyota sedan and repeatedly offered the 14-year-old girl a ride.

She ran away, and the suspect drove south on Summerdale.

Authorities say the child was able to report the incident to a crossing guard near her middle school.

"It's very scary as a parent, and I think it's very ridiculous for someone to come after a child. I hope that they catch him," said Rosaling Wrotten, a parent.

The suspect is described as a long-haired Asian Indian man, around 40 years old, wearing a maroon and gold jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS (215-686-8477).
