With Twinkie Apocalypse Looming, Sellers Try To Hawk Supplies For Thousands Online

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Twinkie-maker Hostess only just announced its shutdown, but some people are already scrambling to make a buck on the remains of the dwindling supply.

One seller on eBay has listed a full, unopened box of the sweet treats with a starting bid of $10,000.

Yes, ten grand for a box of mass-produced sugar bombs that regularly retail for about a dollar.

Meanwhile, a separate eBay seller has listed single Twinkies with a starting bid of $5,000 each.

"This is your opportunity to own a piece of history, a delicious piece at that," a note from the singles seller boasts.

That is, if you can resist eating it.
