Police: Elderly Man Pistol-Whipped During Home Invasion

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police in Upper Merion Township are looking for two men who pistol whipped an 83-year-old man during a home invasion robbery Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the two men forced their way through the front door and immediately struck the elderly victim in the head and face with a handgun and forced him to the floor.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on the 400 block of Upper Gulph Road in the Gulph Mills neighborhood of Upper Merion Township.

After stealing numerous items from the home, police say the men left in a black sedan. The vehicle had chrome wheels, but the license plate had been removed.

Police describe the first suspect as a white, or light-skinned black man in his thirties with dark hair and a medium build. The second suspect is a heavy-set white male believed to be in his forties. He had a fair complexion, and light colored hair.

Police say the 83-year-old victim was taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries to his face and head.

Anyone with information is asked to call Upper Merion Township Police at 610-265-3232.
