Victim Still Unaccounted For in South Jersey Hit-Run

By David Madden

EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Police in South Jersey are continuing their probe into a bizarre hit-and-run accident Tuesday night involving an elderly driver and what they believe is a victim -- only the victim is nowhere to be found.

Evesham police are leading the probe. They pulled over an 81-year-old Cherry Hill driver in Marlton, NJ after noticing heavy damage done to the front passenger side of his 1997 blue Ford Taurus.

He remembered hitting something but couldn't recall what or where.

Evesham detectives have taken forensic evidence from that car (below) -- including at least one long hair determined to be human and some traces of blood -- and sent it to the New Jersey state police lab for further analysis.

Meanwhile, the search for a victim continues within an hour's drive of the Cherry Hill Mall, involving several communities utilizing canines, all-terrain vehicles (top photo), helicopters, and heat cameras (see previous story).

But so far, nothing.
