SPCA: Dogs Attack Mail Carrier, Woman In Delaware

STANTON, Del. (CBS) - A mail carrier was transported to an area hospital after being attacked by two dogs Friday afternoon in Delaware.

When a trooper arrived at Argonne Avenue and Main Street in Stanton at about 4:15 p.m., he found the two dogs attacking a smaller dog that was with its owner, a 51-year-old woman.

The trooper fired his handgun at one of the dogs, ending the attack.

The injured mail carrier was taken to Christiana Hospital with multiple wounds from the dog bites. The 51-year-old woman, who suffered a dog bite to her upper body, refused treatment, according to authorities.

Both dogs involved in the attacks were captured by the Kent County SPCA and provided with veterinary treatment. The dog that was attacked remained with its owner.

The Kent County SPCA is investigating.
