BLOG: DE AG Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Events

By Jim Donovan: Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden announced today that his office is sponsoring events statewide to assist homeowners who are behind on mortgage payments, facing foreclosure, or have questions about homeowner resources that are available.

These free events will each feature mortgage presentations as well as open houses where homeowners can meet with staff from the Attorney General's Foreclosure Prevention Office.

These events will be held at the following times and locations:

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2012

Georgia House, 119 Main Street, Millsboro
Open House from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
Educational Presentation beginning at 12:30pm

Georgia House, 119 Main Street, Millsboro
Open House from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Educational Presentation beginning at 6:00 pm

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2012

Appoquinimink Library, 651 N. Broad Street, Middletown
Open House from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Educational Presentation beginning at 12:00 Noon

Gilliam Building, New Castle County Government Center, 77 Reads Way, New Castle
Open House from 5:00 pm to 7:45 pm
Educational Presentation beginning at 6:00pm

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2012

Outlook at Duncan Center, 500 West Loockerman Street, Dover
Open House from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm

At all locations/sessions walk-ins are encouraged. No RSVPs are necessary.

At each open house, staff from the Attorney General's office will discuss the foreclosure timeline, provide tips on avoiding foreclosure scams, review state and federal programs for homeowners, and brief Delawareans on the national mortgage settlement. Staff may also be able to assist homeowners who are having difficulty reaching their lender to discuss repayment options or other alternatives to foreclosure.
