Pundits like to declare winners and like a boxing match, if you scored it on points, Vice President Joe Biden looked like the dominant force. But remember, this debate was about getting the message to supporters and undecided voters, of which there are few.

Congressman Paul Ryan did a good job speaking to the pro-life, evangelical Republicans who will come out in force. Joe Biden, a master politician, excelled on foreign policy and did a good job trying to generate disbelief at Ryan-Romney positions.

Key highlights: Biden's expressions of disbelief and Ryan's poise as he watched Biden erupt. Biden was more aggressive than his boss's style last week. Ryan appeared less moderate than Romney.

It was the most entertaining debate in a long time and sets a high bar for Obama and Romney next Tuesday.

A bit of irony: if the Romney ticket loses, you might have seen a preview of the 2016 debates, since both men harbor presidential ambitions.
