1 Dead, 1 Critical After Double Shooting In Northern Liberties

By Oren Liebermann

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police say one woman is dead and her daughter is in critical condition after a double shooting Sunday night in Northern Liberties.

Police are investigating the incident that happened inside a private home on the 700 block of North 3rd Street.

The 65-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 41-year-old daughter was shot in the face and is being treated at Hahnemann University Hospital.

"We have crime scene evidence, blood, ballistic evidence in all three floors of the house," Chief Inspector Scott Small said, "so it seemed to be a very violent crime that took place in there which led to this double shooting."

Police say there were a number of other people in the house who are now being interviewed.

"We do have some private surveillance cameras on the exterior of some businesses, so if this individual arrived or ran they may have been recorded," Small said.

Police believe the motive is robbery and are looking for a male suspect. No arrests have been made.
