Constitution Center Tightens Its Belt, Denies Connection to Springsteen Shortfall

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The National Constitution Center is tightening its budget and taking to the road to promote the institution.

The budget for fiscal 2013 is slightly smaller than last year's, according to the NCC chief operating officer Vince Stango, "and as a result we are realigning our resources."

He says there will be the elimination of fewer than ten jobs.

"I view it as a tactical realignment, not a structural upheaval -- no mass layoffs," he told KYW Newsradio today.

Stango says the National Constitution Center will be traveling with exhibits to promote the institution and to boost ticket sales.

He added that, contrary to published reports, there is no correlation between less-than-hoped-for attendance at a recent Bruce Springsteen exhibit and the current budget tightening.
